EVENT SCHEDULE

Transition and race pick-up closed race day at 8:00 AM, regardless of start time.

 

COURSE INFORMATION

Swim: The swim will be held in the sheltered waters of Penetang Bay along the shoreline in waist to chest deep water for those 6 to 11 years of age.  Others will swim to a turning buoy in the deeper waters.  Athletes will start on the beach and swim in heats according to age group and event.  The course will be well marked.

Bike: The bike course will consist of a loop closed to traffic for the 6-7 year old categories, all other age groups in KOS and our adult races will ride on a partially closed route.  The number of laps completed will be determine by age group and event.  The course will be well marked.  A bike mechanic will be available on site for simple repairs and adjustments.

Run: The run will be on trails and paved roads.  Loop course within the Rotary Park, with turn around dependent on age group for 6-7, 8-9, 10-11.  All other age groups in KOS and our Adult Race will complete an out and back, length depending on the age group and event.  This run course is mainly flat, with some short climbs for the participants running on the trails.  This course is sure to please!

KOS

Huronia Kids of Steel (KOS) is part of the KOS series coordinated by the Ontario Association of Triathletes (OAT).  KOS events are designed to offer children and youth between the ages of 6 - 15 years of age an opportunity to participate in the sport of triathlon.  Emphasis is on fun and safety.  Race distances offer an achievable challenge.

FRIENDSHIP WAVE

The friendship wave is shorter to accommodate almost anyone wishing to try and complete a triathlon.  In the swim portion of the event, participants are allowed the use of a PFD (Personal Floatation Devices) such as a lifejacket.

TRIATHLON/DUATHLON

The Huronia Triathlon and Duathlon are designed to offer adults from 16 years of age and over and opportunity to participate in a sprint distance event.  The distances used are standard sprint distances and make for a perfect opportunity to tri the sport!

RULES FOR SAFETY & ENJOYMENT

  1. No outside assistance during the race.

  2. No drafting on the bike course.

  3. Cycling helmets are mandatory.

  4. Torso must be covered.

  5. Water stations will be provided on the course.

  6. Race officials will be present.

  7. Medical personnel will be set up on race day.

  8. OAT race rules apply.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT WAIVER & RELEASE FROM LIABILITY - To be read and signed by all athletes at time of race kit pick-up.  If the athlete is under 18 years of age, a parent/guardian must sign.
